Homemade Blueberry Preserves

We begin by macerating fresh fruit in butter, sugar, cream and spices.

After simmering a while, the fruit alchemizes into a beautiful and rich sauce, as seen above.

Prepared Doughs

Next, I prepare 2 fresh doughs: 1 Blueberry and 1 Sweet. I roll them out nice and smooth.

Then, I smother the fruit-dough in our freshly made (macerated) preserves and place the sweet bread dough on top.

The Vienna Braid

Last, I cut and then braided the 2 fresh doughs and preserves together, and topped it off with the remainder of fresh berries.

Notice the dark colors . . . those aren't burnt - this is the natural color of macerated fruits when created and baked from scratch.

As you can see, once cut, this bread is soft and moist, bold in color, and baked to perfection!
